I am currently incandescent with rage.

I have just received the following email from senior caseworker at the Parliamentary Health Service Ombudsman, Thomas Body;

Subject: PHSO ref ********* complaint summary

Dear Mr Stock,

Thank you for taking the time to speak to me last week. Following our conversation, I need to make you aware that having spoken to my manager and colleagues within my tea, we cannot ask the Trust to answer the 70 questions you say have been left unanswered. I appreciate this will be upsetting but it is important we do our utmost to manage your expectation regarding what our office can do.

With this in mind, as we previously discussed, if you agree, our office will look at whether the therapy you received was appropriate or not. The complaint summary will be as follows;

·      Mr Stock complaints about the following issues that occurred at Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (the Trust) between 2 September 2021 to 23 December 2021

·      During parent therapy sessions for Mr stock and his daughter, the sessions turned into unofficial therapy sessions for him.

·      He complains that these sessions were stopped without coming to an actual conclusion.

·      The notes about him were not accurate and inappropriate.

Mr Stock says the was suicidal and tried to take his own life on 27 April 2023 leading to him being sectioned. He says he has suffered psychological trauma and now is having to pay for private therapy sessions.

He would like to be financially compensated to pay for therapy he is having because of what happened at the Trust. He wants to make sure the Trust has shared his complaint with staff to improve its service (service improvements). He would also like an apology from the Trust.

Furthermore, I would like to reiterate that we cannot, achieve the significant amount of money you are seeking, and having looked over the case and checking this against other cases we have investigated and made recommendations, the case is likely to fall within level 3 or 4 of our financial remedy scale.

If you agree to our complaint summary and what we can achieve for you, when I will be able to progress the case. Please let me know if you accept what we can look at?

In respect to your daughter complaint. As discussed, this will need to be completely sperate and a new case needs to be set up. Although, I can deal with both cases for efficiency.

I emailed two angry replies, the first being

'I AM SICKENED AND APPALLED BY YOUR EMAIL, THOMAS.

THE PHSO ARE FAILING ME, LEAVING ME INCANDESCENT WITH RAGE.

I WILL RESPOND FORMALLY WHEN I HAVE CALMED DOWN BUT I DON'T EXPECT TO FIND YOUR TERMS ACCEPTABLE.

PERHAPS YOU COULD INFORM ME OF MY RIGHTS AND OPTIONS TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE PHSO? IN THE MEANTIME I AM FORMALLY REQUESTING OF YOU THE CONTACT DETAILS FOR THE CO OF THE PHSO, REBECCA HILSENRATH.'

The second being

'WHY THE HELL ASK ME 'Can you confirm what specific questions you wanted the Trust to answer as part of your desired outcome?' AND WASTE MY DAMNED TIME IN COLLATING THOSE QUESTIONS?!!!

AND HOW THE ACTUAL HELL CAN YOU MAKE THE FOLLOWING COMPLAINT ON MY BEHALF ie  'The notes about him were not accurate and inappropriate.' IF THE TRUST ARE NOT REQUIRED TO ANSWER MY QUESTIONS. THE MAJORITY OF MY QUESTIONS RELATE TO THAT SPECIFIC COMPLAINT!?!!!

I will be writing my formal response to your email by the end of this coming weekend and forward to you by the 7th April, 2025 latest.

In the meantime, I wish to complain about the PHSO. I am thoroughly disgusted by your unprofessionalism and the neglect of my case, originally submitted to you in September, 2022.

YOU HAVE FAILED ME AND CONTINUE TO FAIL ME.'

There were actually 73 questions asked of Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust. I posted those questions to my blog and you can read them under LATEST ISSUES 21st March, 2025
